Coyote Point Recreation Area has drop-in picnic areas, great for a family picnic, located in the center of the park. Nearby large lawn areas offer opportunities to relax or play. Paths alongside the water provide views of the bay, San Mateo Bridge, and the procession of jets taking off and landing at SFO. On the north side of the park is a sandy beach area, which is ideal for sunbathing, and the cool bay water is very refreshing on hot summer days (food and drink are permitted on the beach, but alcohol is prohibited).
Magic Mountain Playground
Magic Mountain Playground, re-opened in 2006 after a complete redesign, contains two play areas, one for 2-5 year olds and another for 5-12 year olds. Children enjoy eleven slides and thirteen swings, plus spring riders, balance beams, and a 42-foot high castle atop a five-foot hill. The slide from the top of the castle is one of the longest enclosed slides in California. Flanking the hill and extending into the playground are two huge purple dragons.

Watersports at Coyote Point Promenade
Coyote Point Promenade, located on the north shore of the park, is a beautiful beach area where families play in the sand and water and strollers enjoy views of the bay and airplanes coming and going from SFO. Reconstruction of the Promenade, completed in May 2022, brought many improvements, including a new crenulate-shaped bay and sandy beach better adapted to climate change, an enhanced seat wall with wood features, accessible beach access points, expanded parking are and a more conveniently located restroom.
For years, the Promenade has been a popular destination for open-water swimmers and watersports enthusiasts and regular winds between spring and fall has made it one of the most popular windsurfing locations in Northern California. Three launch ramps are provided to accommodate windsurfers, kiteboarders, sea kayakers, and paddleboarders. Windsurfing and kiteboarding gear and lessons are available for rental by Boardsports School located just off the Promenade.
It's free to launch from the Promenade area and launching from the Marina is also available for a fee. Frequent visitors might consider purchasing an annual park pass to cover the Park’s vehicle entry fee.
Dress appropriately for the conditions and wear a PFD for safety. On some days the water can get very choppy. Wetsuits are recommended for any extended periods in the cold bay waters. Check your tidebook and the 3rd Ave wind meter to ensure a great experience on the bay.
Coyote Point Yacht Club
The Coyote Point Yacht Club is located just south of the Marina. It is a proprietary club with over 300 sail and powerboat members. This 55-year-old organization sponsors various events throughout the year. The Club's restaurant, the Point, is open to club members, their guests, and other affiliated yacht clubs. For more information about Coyote Yacht Club, the Point, special activities, or membership, you can contact them at (650) 347-6730.
