The 50-year anniversary celebration of Wunderlich County Park this spring offered a glimpse of what life might have been like when the James Folger family lived on the property 122 years ago. Visitors of all ages watched a farrier care for the hooves of a cooperative horse, ride a pony, and use tools to stamp designs on leather bracelets. Bluegrass music by the Courthouse Ramblers provided just the right tone for the day.
The event was hosted by The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks and the San Mateo County Parks Department. More than 130 people also enjoyed guided hikes on some of the park’s popular trails and docent led tours of the Carriage Room Museum which conveys the story of local history, including lumbering, farming, and the great estate era.
