On Thursday, July 11, about 250 people gathered in Memorial Park to celebrate the park’s 100th anniversary. The ceremony included the rededication of the park and the unveiling of a plaque honoring all San Mateo County residents who have fallen while in service to the country.
Long-time Memorial Park hikers and campers, along with San Mateo County Board members, shared their appreciation of the iconic Memorial Park and their own camping experiences at the ceremony. Parks Director Nicholas Calderon's comments included an historical overview of the Parks Department and the vision for the next 100 years.
