Last night I had the honor of presenting a Board of Supervisors Resolution to Undersheriff Trisha Sanchez on her retirement form the Sheriff’s Office after 31 outstanding years of service.
Trisha Sanchez begun her career with San Mateo County in 1987 when she was just in grad school. While there were 15-20 women working as law enforcement officers at the time, Trisha was one of only 2 deputies on patrol duty.
She served as a member of the Sheriffs Ceremonial Unit, Cliff Reserve Unit, Traffic Unit, as a Jail Training Officer, and a Field Training Officer. Trisha rose from the ranks of Deputy to Sergeant, Lieutenant and Commander – becoming the Commander of investigations Bureau and County – Wide Narcotics and Vehicle Theft Task Force – and then to Captain.
In 2008, she was appointed Assistant Sheriff and then Undersheriff in 2016 by Sheriff Carlos Bolanos. As Undersheriff, Trisha oversaw the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s office, including Operations, Corrections, Investigations, Office of Emergency Services, Fiscal and the Crime Lab.
Not only has Trisha had an outstanding career but she has also been a great mentor for young men and women. I commend her for her dedication and service to this County.
Thank you for making it a safe place to live.
