We all recognize the famous lines from Shakespeare plays: "To be or not to be," "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
With the cost of attending a play in this area so high, many families are unable to enjoy the preforming arts. The mission of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is to remove barriers to cultural access, and to make Shakespeare and the preforming arts accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, geography, economic status or level of education.
This past weekend, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival preformed "As You Like It" at the Sequoia High School campus in Redwood City. I am pleased that the Measure K district discretionary grant helped underwrite Redwood City's "Free Shakespeare in the Park" during three weekends this august. Now all can enjoy the play "As You Like It" with other in our community.
Additional performances will be held the following two weekends, August 17 and August 18.
August 24 and August 25 will be free to attend.
