I presented a resolution authorizing a one-time grant of Measure K fund to the Ravenswood Family Health Center for the Dentistry Renovation Expansion Project not to exceed $69,000. This fund will provide essential capital projects that will create new dental treatment rooms. This will increase the number of pediatric chairs at the Clinic to 9 and adult chairs to 12, and enable 3,500 more patients to be seen for dental needs.
Ravenswood Family Health Center (RFHC) is the leading provider of health care to all, regardless of their ability to pay, or immigration status. Between 2011 and 2013, RFHC’s total utilization increased from 10,394 to 11,617 patients while the number of patience have increased by 69% from 2,935 to 4,427. In fact, the Ravenswood Dentistry Clinic has become an entry point to healthcare for residents who first visit the dental clinic. This project will serve three underserve populations in District 4, children, women, and people with the risk of chronic diseases.
