Ann Stillman is the Director of the County of San Mateo’s Department of Public Works with her appointment to this position confirmed by the Board of Supervisors at their Meeting on July 12, 2022.
Ann is a registered civil engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental resource engineering from Humboldt State University. She began her career with the County in 1987 and has led many important efforts of the Department and high-profile projects.
With an annual budget of approximately $300 million and more than 300 employees, the Department of Public Works provides key services that impact the lives of those that live and visit the County. These include improving and maintaining 316 miles of County roads, maintaining County buildings and facilities, overseeing the efficient operation of both the San Carlos and Half Moon Bay airports, providing many residents in the unincorporated areas with utilities such as wastewater, streetlight, and water services, and more.
Ann is proud of the Department of Public Works, and continues to find the Department’s work interesting, challenging, and rewarding. Ann is a native of the County of San Mateo and is honored to be part of the Department’s team.
